Kohima: Cabinet approves implementation of VLTS in public service vehicles for Women and Child Safety

The Nagaland Government has approved the proposal for enhancement of salaries, allowances, and other facilities of the Members of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly and pension for Ex-Members and Ex-1BMs. This was approved during the Cabinet meeting on 8th February 2024.

The Cabinet also directed the Department to increase by 10 per cent the amount under vehicle maintenance for the Members from far-flung areas, as difficult area allowance taking into account the difficulty faced by them.

Further, the cabinet also approved to increase the financial advance to Rs 20 lakh instead of the proposed Rs 15 lakh per member.

Also, during the Cabinet meeting, the House approved the following proposals –

  1. Establishment of the Nagaland lnstitute of Transformation (NloT)
  2. The Nagaland Banning of Unregulated Deposit Schemes Rules, 2023
  3. Proposal for amendment of rates of tax under SI. No 3 and 4 of Schedule-II of the Nagaland (Sale of Petroleum Products including Motor Spirit and Lubricants) Taxation Act, 1967
  4. The Nagaland On-Demand Transportation Technology Aggregators Rules, 2022
  5. Implementation of Vehicle Location Tracking System (VLTS) as per AIS 140 Standards in public service vehicles in the State of Nagaland for Women and Child Safety under Nirbhaya Framework.
  6. Guidelines for establishment of Private University in the State of Nagaland by a separate Act. The Cabinet directed that a provision for nominal share of the students’ fee to be given to the State Government should be added in the guidelines.
  7. Draft of Nagaland Tourism Policy, 2023. The Cabinet further directed to include Medical Tourism in the policy.
  8. Upgradation of the ex-cadre post of Commissioner & Secretary (Pay Level-20) to that of Principal Secretary (Pay Level-21) in respect Taliremba.
  9. Policy for regularisation of services of Contract/Adhoc employees.

Furthermore, the Nagaland Cabinet concluded that the proposal for State Sectoral Outlay 2024-25 was being taken up by the State Planning Board and the same will take the decision regarding its approval.
