Nagaland government facilitating a meeting with Home Minister for ENPO: CM Rio

Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio stated that the state government is facilitating a meeting with the Union Home Minister, Amit Shah and the Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO), with regard to their demand for a separate statehood ‘Frontier Nagaland’.

Rio said this while speaking to reporters on the side line of the Mobile Veterinary Units flag off program held today here at Nagaland Civil Secretariat Plaza, Kohima.

Chief Minister Rio also added that they will make a request to the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi to meet the ENPO during his visit to the state. The Prime Minister is expected to arrive in the state capital on 28 October and if so, he will be addressing a public rally at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima.

“We are getting a date, Home Minister will meet them and when PM will come here, we will also request him to meet ENPO,” stated Rio.

He stated that Nagas have the freedom of speech and therefore, the ENPO have spoken their mind and expressed their desires. He exuded hope that all issues will be resolved.

With regard to the ENPO 14 October resolution to abstain from participating in the Hornbill Festival, Rio said the Hornbill Festival will be celebrated and everybody should come and be a part of the festival. He added that the state cannot be shamed and instead one should be proud of themselves and the state.
