The State-Level Unique Identification Implementation Committee (UIDIC) meeting for 2024 was held in Kohima on October 29 under the chairmanship of Nagaland Chief Secretary, Dr. Jan. E Alam, IAS. The meeting saw participation from senior officials of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), including Commodore Dhiraj Sareen, Deputy Director General (DDG) of the UIDAI Regional Office in Guwahati, and Colonel Abhishek Koushik, Director of the UIDAI Guwahati office, alongside departmental heads of the Nagaland government.
Colonel Abhishek Koushik delivered a comprehensive presentation detailing the progress of Aadhaar enrolment, updates, and usage in Nagaland. He also presented an action-taken report based on points from the previous meeting and updates from the quarterly district-level meetings. Key issues discussed included improving Aadhaar saturation, ensuring enrolment of newborns through the Birth Registration Based Aadhaar Enrolment (BRBAE) process, and addressing the backlog of mandatory biometric updates for children aged 5-7 and 15-17.

During the meeting, DDG Commodore Dhiraj Sareen stressed the importance of raising Aadhaar enrolment levels to align with the national average. He proposed focusing on districts with lower Aadhaar saturation and emphasized the need to prioritize the enrolment of newborns using the BRBAE system.
Concluding the meeting, the Chief Secretary directed the departmental heads to collaborate with the UIDAI Regional Office in Guwahati to develop a plan aimed at achieving these targets within a stipulated timeframe, ensuring Nagaland meets the national average for Aadhaar saturation.
