The first meeting of the Government Assurance Committee was held under the chairmanship of Member of Legislative Assembly Kuzholuzo Nienu on 27 April 2023, the Nagaland Legislative Assembly Secretariat informed.

In his address, Nienu welcomed all the newly elected Members and Officers and Staff of the Assembly Secretariat to the meeting and thanked NLA Speaker Sharingain Longkumer for nominating him as the Chairman of the Government Assurance Committee. He emphasised on the importance of the Committee on Government Assurances, which acts as a watchdog over the functioning of the various Departments within our system of Government.

The Chairman of the committee therefore, sought full co-operation and support from the members and requested all to pro-actively participate in the meeting for the smooth and effective functioning of the Committee.

The Government Assurance Committee, then adopted the ‘102th and 103th main Reports’.

An Oral Evidence Meeting with the Departmental Representatives of Eleven Departments will be conducted on 19 May 2023.
