The Labour Department, Government of Nagaland has launched a toll-free number 18003090407 to provide easy access to the department at the ease of a phone call from the comfort of work place, to bring forward their issues and grievances. The toll-free number was inaugurated by Advisor, Labour, Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Department, Government of Nagaland, Moatoshi Longkumer at the Office of the Labour Commissioner, Kohima on Friday, DIPR informed.
The scenario in the State has significantly changed in the recent years owing to urbanization, steady growth of small-scale industries, business establishments and also growth in the construction sector. However, majority of these workers are unorganized in nature and are vulnerable to social and economic exploitation due to illiteracy, dispersed nature of operations and processes, and lack of proper streamlined institutional back-up. These workers are also mostly ignorant about their rights and thus the effort to approach the department for lodging their grievances is very negligible.
The Department therefore, keeping in mind the interest and welfare of the workers of our State, has institutionalized a Labour Department toll-free number (18003090407).
The toll-free number is also not only manned for workers in Nagaland, but also for Naga Boys and Girls working outside the State having any issues or grievances relating to their employment condition.
The toll-free number is also a step forward of the Department to improve the interface with the workers of Nagaland and also provide vast array of services in easy and friendly manner. Any person or party having any queries or grievances on any matter related to the Labour Department can file his/her queries or grievances through the toll-free number.
The facility will be operational 24 x7. However, the dedicated human operators will attend the calls from 0900 to 1600 Hrs PM during office working days. The helpline number will be on ‘auto-record’ mode for the remaining non-working hours or days and shall be on duly recorded and attend during the next working days.
