The Government of Nagaland, in collaboration with the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), the Department of School Education (DoSE), and NagaEd, has officially launched Phase 2 of the Nagaland Disaster Management School Safety Policy (NDMSSP) Compliance Course. This digital training program is mandatory for all teachers—both in government and private schools—and aims to equip them with essential skills in disaster preparedness and school safety.

The NDMSSP Compliance Course was initially launched on December 1, 2023, by Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio. During Phase 1, the initiative saw an encouraging response with 7,567 teachers registering for the course and 3,193 successfully earning their certification, demonstrating strong engagement across the education sector.

As the program enters Phase 2, the emphasis is on ensuring course completion by all previously enrolled teachers and expanding outreach to new participants.

Key Highlights of Phase 2:

Deadline for Phase 1 Participants: Teachers who enrolled during Phase 1 but have not yet completed the course are urged to do so by June 30, 2025.

New Registrations: Teachers who have not yet enrolled must register during Phase 2 and complete the course to receive their certification.

Peer Support Encouraged: Certified teachers are encouraged to assist their colleagues in registering and completing the course.

Final Deadline for All Participants: October 31, 2025.

The NDMSSP Compliance Course is a self-paced, digital training module designed to integrate seamlessly with teachers’ regular duties. Using interactive videos, quizzes, and real-life case studies, it promotes a culture of safety, preparedness, and resilience in Nagaland’s schools.

“Ensuring school safety is not just a mandate—it is a moral responsibility. Our collective efforts in digitising safety training ensure that no teacher, child, or school is left behind, regardless of location,” stated Johnny Ruangmei, Joint CEO of NSDMA.

Kevisato Sanyü, Co-Founder of NagaEd, added, “This initiative reaffirms Nagaland’s commitment to school safety and showcases the power of digital learning to reach every educator—even in the most remote areas.”

As Nagaland advances toward full compliance, this program sets an example of how innovation and collaboration can transform education and safeguard future generations.
