Nagaland launches Poshan Maah 2024 with ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign

Kohima: Plant4Mother campaign observed at district, block and Anganwadi Centers across State

The Department of Social Welfare kick started Poshan Maah 2024 celebration in Nagaland today by organising a special tree plantation drive under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign. The “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” or “Plant4Mother” was earlier launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on World Environment Day, 5th June 2024. the campaign’s goal is to create a safer environment for future generations by reducing global warming, improving air quality, and balancing the environment. It is based on the idea that the bond between a mother and her child is the most precious in the world.

Secretary, Social Welfare, Martha Ritse, led the Plant4Mother plantation drive. Other participants included Olemjungla Aier, Project Director Poshan Abiyaan and Joint Secretary Social Welfare, Bodeno S. Colo, Addl. Secretary, Tosheli Zhimomi, Director Social Welfare, along with Directorate Officers, staff, SPMU Poshan Abhiyaan team, district Social Welfare and Anganwadi Workers.

District Social Welfare block officers and Anganwadi workers participated in the Plant4Mother campaign at the district, block and Anganwadi Centers across the State.

Rashtriya Poshan Abhiyaan, Department of Social Welfare, Nagaland, in convergence with the Departments of Health and Family Welfare, Rural Development – NSRLM, School Education, AYUSH, Horticulture, Forest and Climate Change, Agriculture and Local administration will celebrate Poshan Maah 2024 during September with the five Themes: ‘Anaemia’, ‘Growth Monitoring’, ‘Complementary Feeding’, ‘Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi’ and ‘Use of Technology for better Governance’.

Rashtriya Poshan Maah is celebrated during the month of September every year. Since the launch of Poshan Abhiyaan in 2018 by the Prime Minister, six Poshan Maahs have been successfully celebrated across the country in convergence with multiple Ministries/Departments across the States/UTs.
