In conclusion, the Advisor said that NSDMA would continue to strengthen its network of automated weather stations, expand forecasting capabilities, and enhance public awareness through partnerships and education.
He, however, said that the success of these initiatives depends not just on technology, but on how effectively the citizens use this information to act responsibly and prepare proactively.

Dr Johnny Ruangmei, Joint Chief Executive Officer, NSDMA sharing a brief introduction to the Weather Mobile Application “Safer Nagaland” highlighted that it is another milestone of the Government of Nagaland and the NSDMA in covering another higher ground in the development of weather application.
He mentioned that at the moment, the app has only the weather dissemination applications, but under the app they would be having the Application Programming Interfaces (API) integrated of different apps applications and that would be developed soon.
Ruangmei stated that the Government of Nagaland and NSDMA has also three to four applications developed, like Mausam and then other apps for earthquake, weather alerts, lightning alerts. He added that all those applications have also been integrated into their weather app, Safer Nagaland. He said that in later days many applications would be integrated under one umbrella, which is why the app is called “Safer Nagaland”.
Ruangmei hoped that the app Safer Nagaland would reach to as many people as possible in the state .
Ruangmei highlighted that this app would help people to have update on hourly happenings of the weather. He also added that during the Monsoon period they will be looking for the rain and thunderstorm and on winter period they will be looking at the temperature.
Ruangmei mentioned that this year is going to be one of the coldest years in the history of the world. He said that they would also do forecasting and projecting in later part of winter period.
He added that Safer Nagaland App is going to help the public in general to know the weather in their fingertips and also hoped that many people in Nagaland will download these applications.
“This application is not like any other Apps, but it is going to be very useful App to each one of us because it is about the weather and it is about different alerts. Instead of coming up with different apps, under this safer Nagaland umbrella app, we will have many other apps integrated related to emergencies response,” he stated.
Ruangmei stated that just like receiving SMS about the thunderstorm etc., the department is looking at going ahead, flashing that kind of message in WhatsApp or flash message.
