The school gate of Loyola Higher Secondary School, Kiphire, constructed by the Alumni Association as a mark of respect towards the school which had celebrated 50 years (golden jubilee) in 2022, was inaugurated on Friday.

John Tsilise Sangtam, Additional Secretary of Rural Development department, in his address as the special guest, stated that he was happy to be back to the school after 47 years and added that the school gate will be a piece of pride to encourage and inspire all students who pass through it.

Sangtam narrated his journey at LHSS and said he enrolled in the school after the fourth year of its establishment and recalled that he was made to recite the poem ‘Sing, sing, sing’ during his admission.

He expressed his gratitude to all the alumni for their concern and stated that he was honoured to be a part of the programme. Encouraging the students to aspire not only to become an officer but also to be successful individuals in various fields, he stated: “Know what you want to do, find yourself.”

Welcoming all the invitees and attendees, Yangthsaba, chairman of the planning committee, informed that the gate was initiated in commemoration of the 50 years jubilee.

Tsarose S, the representative of the 2008 batch, stated that the school gate will be a mark of legacy for the upcoming generations and hoped that it will bring blessings to those who passed through it.

Mentioning the individuals from far and near who contributed towards the construction of the gate, Likhumla thanked all for their initiative.

‘Less concern for public property in Kiphire town area’

Stating that there is a lack of concern for public property in Kiphire town area, Andrew Chumlongse, on behalf of the School Management Board, expressed hope that the new gate will be the responsibility of everyone concerned.

Informing that the solar street lights and town beautifications were destroyed by some people, Chumlongse called upon all to protect and preserve public properties.

The programme began with the lighting of the candle by the special guest, which was followed by the other dignitaries.

Rezila Sangtam, winner of the USSC solo competition 2023, gave a special number.
