Governor of Nagaland Ajay Kumar Bhalla extended warm greetings to the people of the State on the eve of the 62nd Statehood Day, calling upon citizens to uphold unity, peace and development as guiding pillars for the future.
In his message, the Governor paid tribute to the resilience, courage and unwavering aspirations of the Naga people, who envisioned a future anchored in identity, unity and progress.
Nagaland became the 16th State of the Indian Union on December 1, 1963, a milestone Bhalla described as “a remarkable journey —guided by the wisdom of our pioneers, elders, and leaders, whose commitment to dignity and self-governance laid the very foundations of our State.”
“Their sacrifices and steadfast spirit continue to inspire us as we work collectively toward a brighter and more harmonious tomorrow,” he stated.
Reflecting on Nagaland’s progress over the years, Bhalla acknowledged advancements across governance, infrastructure, education, healthcare and creative arts, noting that the State’s youths continue to excel in sports, academics, entrepreneurship and creative sectors, bringing recognition to Nagaland.
He also lauded farmers, artisans and community leaders as custodians of Naga cultural values—upholding the long-standing principles of hard work, harmony and social responsibility, which have long strengthened the fabric of Naga society.

The Governor said Nagaland’s “rich tapestry” of tribes, traditions, and languages is a testament to its cultural vibrancy and resilience. “Our festivals, customary practices, reverence for elders, and the spirit of community life form the enduring wealth of our land. The strength of Nagaland lies in the harmony and mutual respect that unite our many tribes,” he added.
As the State moves forward, Bhalla emphasised the need to reaffirm the shared commitment to peace, development and unity. He further reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to inclusive development, improved connectivity, transparent governance and opportunities that uplift every citizen—from remote rural areas to rapidly growing urban centres.
Stating that Nagaland stands at a significant juncture in its continuing journey, the Governor said, “With sustained peace, cooperation, and dialogue, we can realise our collective aspirations for lasting progress.”
Let us move ahead with renewed purpose—embracing innovation while safeguarding our cultural identity, celebrating diversity while strengthening unity, and ensuring that the vision of our founding leaders continues to guide our path,” he urged.
He also called upon to look towards the future with determination while reminding everyone’s responsibility to nurture peace, promote sustainable development, empower youth and preserve the unique traditions and values that define Nagaland.
“Together, let us build an inclusive, just, and prosperous State for generations to come,” he added.
On the Statehood Day, he urged everyone to reaffirm their pledge to work in unity for a peaceful, progressive and vibrant Nagaland.
