Nagaland Police Commanders to conduct sobriety checks on personnel

Kohima: Commanders, SDPOs, OCs to be held responsible for personnel found under influence

Director General of Police (DGP) Nagaland, Rupin Sharma, IPS, has directed all unit Commanders to conduct, at regular interval, random sobriety checks on personnel deployed at various positions and places.

“… check if they-are under influence of any kind of intoxicants and if found, to immediately conduct medical test and submit report to concerned District Commissioner of Police/Superintendents of Police or take action at unit level,” the DGP’s order said.

The DGP asked for strict compliance and cautioned that Unit Commanders and Assistant Commandant, Sub Divisional Police Officer as well as Officer-in-Charge and Platoon Commanders shall be held responsible for negligence on supervisory laxity if any of those personnel or personnel deployed under the jurisdiction/charge are found under influence of liquor or intoxicants.

Further, the directive stated that wherever Nagaland Police personnel are involved in any kind of accidents or criminal cases, medical test must be conducted mandatorily and action must be taken accordingly and report submitted.
