Nagaland Police Honors Excellence in DGP Commendation Disc Awards and felicitates HSLC/HSSLC toppers

Kohima/ Mokokchung: DGP Sharma stressed on importance of recognizing and encouraging excellence within police force

The Nagaland Police held its prestigious DGP Commendation Disc Awards and felicitated the HSLC/HSSLC toppers of 2023 at the PHQ Lobby on September 30 where a total of 23 officers and personnel from PHQ and various units were honoured with the DGP Commendation Disc and eight students of the police personnel were felicitated for their exceptional achievements in the HSLC/HSSLC examinations for the year 2023.

The Director General of Police, Rupin Sharma (IPS), graced the occasion and personally congratulated the top performers, both in physical and virtual modes, recognizing their outstanding academic accomplishments. Tokavi Achumi, AIG, Co-ord, played a key role in the DGP Commendation Disc Award Ceremony, where twenty exemplary officers, staff, and personnel from various units were awarded the coveted DGP Commendation Disc for their exceptional performance in the line of duty. The awards distributed across various units are as follows: PHQ: 3, DEF Mokokchung: 3, NAPTC: 4, IGP(Intelligence): 4, DEF Dimapur: 1, DEF, Tuensang: 1, DEF Phek: 1, 1st NAP Bn: 1, DEF, and Kohima: 2.

Addressing the gathering, DGP Rupin Sharma shared his perspectives on the State’s law enforcement, its challenges, and the importance of recognizing and encouraging excellence within the police force. In addition to honouring the police force’s finest, the ceremony also celebrated the academic achievements of Nagaland’s Police personnel wards.

The Police Department recognized and awarded the children of its staff members who achieved top ranks in the HSLC/HSSLC examinations. Eight students who excelled in the HSLC/HSSLC examinations in 2023 were felicitated during the event. They are: Binthonlo Tep, son of Hav. Tesinlo Rengm, 4 NAP BN, Alice Khongsai, daughter of C/N Paolen Kuki, 4T NAP BN, Thiemboi Chongloi, daughter of Link Letkholen Chongloi, 1 NAP BN, Aotushi Imsong, son of C/N (DVR) Taliwapang Npto Kma, Tiatetla Jamir, daughter of SI (CPR) Chubanungba, NRTO Mokokchung, Wetou Thele, daughter of C/N (Messenger) MesePelo-U, DEF Dimapur, Watisangla, daughter of S. Tiameren LTR, DEF Mokokchung, Imlimerenla Pongen, daughter of Temjensoa, LDA DEF Mokokchung.

Their dedication to education and promising futures were acknowledged, where Sharma emphasized on the significance of nurturing young talent in the state.

Furthermore, officers and personnel from Mokokchung district who were awarded the DGP Commendation Disc (Silver) for their outstanding performance in the year 2022-23 were: Tizhisie Pojar, NPS, SDPO (Ha), DEF Mokokchung, Isthangbe, UBI, DEF Mokokchung No. 2465 THC Imosanen, DEF Mokokchung.

At Mokokchung, Y Tumchobemo Yanthan, Addl. SP Mokokchung, felicitated Tiatetla Jamir, who topped 10th in Science (HSSLC) from Queen Mary Higher Secondary School, daughter of SI (CPR) Chubanungba, NRTO Mokokchung, and Watisangla, daughter of S. Tiameren LTR, DEF Mokokchung who topped 5th in Arts (HSSLC) position at Mayangnokcha Government Higher Secondary School, as well as Imlimerenla Pongen, daughter of Temjensoa, LDA DEF Mokokchung who achieved a top 8 position in Arts (HSSLC) ranking from Queen Mary Higher Secondary School, Mokokchung district. The awards were received by their parents during the program in Mokokchung.

These outstanding students, along with others, received a cash prize of thirty thousand rupees (30,000) for achieving top ranks in the HSLC/HSSLC examinations in 2023.
