He said the system will provide a hassle-free, paper-free and quick access to information about suspected movements among the visitors.

The DGP also clarified that this is not an imposition on the privacy of the guests, but it is mandatory by law for hotels and guesthouses to provide basic data of the people staying in their establishments. Stating this, Sharma said the system will also make the state more secure as now people will be hesitant to stay in hotels and guesthouses under fake identities or without proper and verified documents.

He urged all hoteliers to make optimum use of the facility to safeguard their establishments against unwanted and illegal activities.

The system can be accessed through the portal www.nglphotelcheckin.com . Under the system, hotels will be required to register in the site with a valid email address and submit the details of all the guests on a daily basis.
