Nagaland Police Narcotic Cell has made two seizures and arrests in Kohima, wherein two vehicles and four persons have been arrested and cases lodged against them for smuggling illegal narcotic drugs.

On 14 September, at around 6pm the Narcotic Cell PS, PHQ personnel while conducting a surprise MVCP at NH-2 intercepted one vehicle XUV 500 (Black) B/Regd No AS01-DJ-8364, Engine No SPH4E11300, Chassis No MA1YU4SPVH6E11131 near the bridge between Khuzama and Viswema.

The Guwahati bound vehicle was coming from Imphal, Manipur via Kohima. On thorough search of the vehicle, the Narcotic PS personnel detected and recovered fifteen packets containing about 1.5 lakh tablets of suspected Yaba (WY).

Accordingly, the driver of the vehicle along with the occupant were apprehended and the contraband items along with the vehicle were seized. The arrested persons are

• Md Salam Khan (M) 32 years, S/O Lt Md Basinhaman, R/O Ward No 8, Kwakta Khuman, PO/PS Kwakta, Dist Bishnupur, Manipur
• Abdur Rajak (M) 38 years, S/O Md Sattar, R/O Kshetri Bengoon Mayai Leikai, PO/PS Kshetri Bengoon, Dist Imphal East, Manipur

Nagaland Police has registered a regular case vide Narcotic Cell PS C/No. 012/2022 U/S 22(C)/60 NDPS Act.

In another incident, on 7 September around 3:30am, the Nagaland Police personnel of Narcotic Cell PS Mobile unit intercepted one vehicle (MARUTI ALTO) silver colour B/R No AS 11D/2654 near Viswema Y-Junction of Kohima-Pfutsero-Imphal NH-2 which was coming from Senapati, Manipur and heading towards Dimapur.

On checking the vehicle, the personnel recovered seventy soap cases containing suspected heroin weighing 840 grams (approximate).

Accordingly, two occupants of the vehicle were arrested, namely

• P Ngaopu (M) 39 years, S/o TH Peter, V/O Katafiimai PO/PS-Tadubi, Dist-Senapati, Manipur
• Matia (F) 34 years, W/O KH Zao James, R/O Pahibung Khullen, PO/PS Tadubi, Dist- Senapati, Manipur

The illegal contraband along with the vehicle were seized and a case, vide Narcotic Cell Police Station Case No.11/2022 U/S 21(c)/60 NDPS Act, has been registered.
