Nagaland Police to rehabilitate personnel struggling from drugs/ alcohol addiction

The Director General of Police, Nagaland has directed all Unit Commanders to identity Nagaland Police personnel in their respective units who are struggling from substance abuse, drug addiction/abuse and alcoholism so that they may be rehabilitated.

The order informed that all such personnel will be allowed to undertake medical treatment or to Rehab Centres with intimation to PHQ and that during such period ‘they shall be treated as on duty and on leave and no salary shall be deducted if leave is admissible and available to the person concerned.’

Further, the Unit Commanders have been directed to closely monitor all such cases and report the progress and improvement of their conditions to PHQ after completion of rehab/medical treatment period.

Unit Commanders of the Nagaland Police have also been asked to identify and encourage personnel with addiction problem to undertake rehab and ‘inform the personnel that failure to undergo rehab and subsequent arrest/detention would lead disciplinary proceedings as well as criminal cases.’
