Imkong L. Imchen, Bharatiya Janata Party’s candidate for 28th Koridang Assembly Constituency, has stated that he moved from NDPP to BJP because as a public servant, one needs to be on the winning side. In a brief interaction with media persons in Mokokchung on Saturday, Imchen further defended his decision and said that BJP was responding positively to the needs at both the state as well as national levels.

The four-time MLA from the constituency had resigned from Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) in January to join BJP, who later declared him as its 28 Koridang A/C candidate for the 14th Nagaland Assembly election.

Imchen also stated that there will be some lapses as far as the policies and guidelines are concern but asserted that as a political party member, one needs to be a good team player. He assured that he will focus on team work and the political doctrine of the party he has joined.

Earlier in the day, a reception program was organised for the BJP candidate at his residence at Mongsenbai ward, Mokokchung.

At the programme, Imchen declared that the first battle for ticket approval had been won and acknowledged all the people of his constituency who came in support for him.

During his brief speech, he also expressed appreciation for Khensa Village Council, Yimyu Ward Council, Mangmetong Village Council, BJP, Mokokchung district, 28 Koridang Mandal, Mahila Unit, units from Kohima, Dimapur, Mokokchung and all the affiliated units who have been a part of his journey during his four terms.

Imchen admitted that there had been lack of development in the constituency and lack of opportunities for him in the last 5 years and therefore he had shifted his party to give a political platform to the constituency.
