Tongpang Ozukum, NDPP candidate from 24 Angetyongpang AC, filed his nomination today at DC Office Mokokchung.
Speaking to Nagaland Tribune after filing his nomination, Ozukum, when asked about what prompted him to join NDPP while resigning as an independent, commented that “NDPP is the strongest regional party at present and besides that, the party, sensing the strong leadership quality of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio have been an inspiration”.

Emerging as the kingmaker in the 2018 general election, Ozukum stated that he still enjoys the love and confidence of his area people and said that his accuracy of being elected depends on his people.
I expect a good fight from my opponents, and I am also prepared to give a good fight, said Ozukum.
He appealed to his voters to judge him by his performance in the three years he was given to serve the people, unlike the past leaders who get the opportunity of five years, but if his performance was not at par with their expectations, he asked them to “dismiss him”.
Earlier, a dedicatory prayer meeting for intending candidates – Metsubo Jamir, Sharingain Longkumer, Tongpang Ozukum and Imkongmar – was held at the regional office in Mokokchung.
Meanwhile, another NDPP candidate from 22 Arkakong AC, Imnatiba also filed his nomination paper at the office of the SDO (Civil), Changtongya.
NDPP candidate from 23 Impur AC, TN Manen, too filed his nomination today at DC Office Mokokchung. He had contested in the 2008, 2013, 2018 elections and will go against Bendangkokba (Mopungchuket).

Lonchar will take on State President, BJP Nagaland, Imna Along Longkumer, who also filed his nomination at the ADC’s office at Mangkolemba.
On Monday, BJP candidate Imkong L Imchen also filed his nomination for 28 Koridang A/C.
Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Union Minister of State for Entrepreneurship, Skill Development, Electronics & Technology, was present with both Along and Imchen when they filed their nominations.
Later, Imna Along tweeted out the 27 February is his “Exam Date”. “Humbled by the continued trust & support of the people of my constituency!” he added.
