The light pole allegedly cut down by supporters of Renponthung Ezung on March 5.

In another instance of post-poll violence, power lines transmitting electricity to six villages under 38 Wokha Assembly Constituency – Pongitong, Totsu, Tsungza, Khumtsu, Meriyan, L Yanthung – were allegedly cut down by suspected supporters of Renponthung Ezung, a BJP Candidate from Longsa village, at Pongitong village on March 5.

An update from the Media Cell of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Wokha stated that the power line had been shut down since 27 February.

This is due to the fact that voters from the six village did not cast 100% of their votes in favour of the BJP candidate from Longsa village, although, it may be mentioned that majority of the votes from the six villages went in favour of the candidate under duress, it further stated.

It may be mentioned that in the recently concluded Nagaland Assembly Election 2023, YM Humtsoe of the NCP won against Renpothung Ezung of the Bharatiya Janata Party with a margin of 3061 votes from 38 Wokha AC.
