A meeting was called by V Shashank Shekhar, Chief Election Officer (CEO), Nagaland on Monday with several stakeholders regarding stable power supply and network during the election period.
A press release issued by the CEO stated that the officer highlighted the importance of various election-related IT applications along with the timeline for implementation of applications such as management of permissions, nominations, poll data and counting data through ENCORE.
Joint Secretary and OSD to CEO, Hiazu Meru, suggested that nodal officers be nominated from each department/agencies for better coordination. He further suggested the opening of a WhatsApp group for better communication.
SIO NIC highlighted the irregular power supply, particularly in rural districts, which causes interruption in the proper running of IT systems and power backups.
Meanwhile, the additional chief engineer (D&R), Power department briefed about the status of electrification in polling stations and informed that “work has been initiated and will be completed shortly”.
Senior programme officer, department of IT & C, informed that officials from the department have been deputed to the CEOs office, DC-DEO Kohima and other districts based on requirement. He further assured proper maintenance and uninterrupted service at the State Data Centre to the extent possible.
The AGM (Plg) BSNL also highlighted the power backup issues which affect the proper running of the network systems and assured that BSNL will keep track of any faults that may develop and get it resolved.
Representatives from the department of Power, IT & C, NIC and from BSNL, Reliance-Jio, Airtel, Vodafone-Idea attended the meeting, the press release informed.
