The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) released its official list of candidates for the upcoming General Election to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly through its social media handles on Thursday.
The list with names of its 40 candidates was announced shortly after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) declared its own list of 20 candidates on Thursday afternoon out of the 60 Assembly Constituencies in Nagaland.
Interestingly, the party has fielded two women candidates – Hekani Jakhalu from 3 Dimapur-III and Salhoutuonuo Kruse from the 8 Western Angami.

Meanwhile, the party has forfeited some seats to the BJP and dropped a total of 16 sitting MLAs. They are: Azheto Zhimomi from Dimapur 3, Namri Nchang from 6 Tening, Keneizhakho Nakhro from 8 Western Angami, Chotisuh Sazo from 18 Meluri, Yitachu from 20 Meluri, Picto from 32 Atoizu, Dr. Chumben Murry from 38 Wokha, YM Yollow from 42 Wakching, Pohwang Konyak from 44 Phomching, Thongwang Konyak from 46 Mon, Toyang Chang from 53 Tuensang Sadar-I, Kejong Chang from 54 Tuensang Sadar-II, L Khumo Khiamniungan from 57 Thonoknyu, Muthingnyupa Sangtam from 52 Longkhim-Chare, Zale Neikha from Southern Angami-II and Amenba Yaden from 21 Tuli.
The party has called for a ticket distribution-cum-campaign launch of the party at Capital Cultural Hall in Kohima on 3 February 2023.
