To elevate the standards of Volleyball refereeing and promote excellence in the sport within Nagaland, the Mokokchung District Volleyball Association (MDVA) has organized the Nagaland State Level Volleyball Referee Exam 2023. This event, taking place from September 12th to 15th at the Multi-Sports Complex in Mokokchung, is supported by the Nagaland Volleyball Association and the Department of Youth Resources & Sports.

Two distinguished figures in the world of Volleyball, Dr. Harish Kumar Tiwari, a certified FIVB Level 1 Coach & Deputy Director of Sports at Nagaland University, and Ramesh Babu Vidyarthi, a National Referee of the Volleyball Federation of India (VFI) and All India Referee Examiner, are overseeing and conducting the volleyball referee exam.

On the opening day, Imtipokim, President of MDVA, extended a warm welcome to all participants and expressed gratitude to the resource persons. Dr. Harish Kumar Tiwari dispelled the misconception that height could be a limiting factor for Nagas in Volleyball, emphasizing that talent and dedication can pave the way for a successful career in the sport. He encouraged examinees to aspire to become professional referees, highlighting the potential in the field.

Furthermore, Dr. Tiwari shared information about the upcoming Inter-University sports meet in the East zone, inviting students enrolled under Nagaland University from various colleges to participate in the trials, with details available on the Nagaland University website.

A total of 37 candidates from districts including Wokha, Tuensang, Longleng, Phek, and Mokokchung are participating in the Nagaland State Level Volleyball Referee Exam, demonstrating the diverse representation and enthusiasm for volleyball officiating in the state. This event is poised to contribute significantly to the growth and expertise of volleyball referees in Nagaland.
