Advisor, School Education and SCERT, Kekhrielhoulie Yhome on Wednesday disclosed that Nagaland would host the Asian Women Sepaktakraw Championship, where more than 20 countries from South Asia would participate at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the two-day State Level Catch Them Young U14 Sepaktakraw Championship, held at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima, organized by the Department of Youth Resources and Sports in collaboration with All Nagaland Private Schools Association (ANPSA), Yhome said that confidence and body language is very important in any sporting events and emphasized on personal discipline and sportsmanship.
He emphasized that the state’s sports policy aims not only to identify talent early but also to nurture it for national and international representation. He said Sepaktakraw has come a long way in Nagaland representing India at international level, adding Nagaland has produced 23 international players, who have participated in 24 international events, won a total of 58 medals, including Gold, Silver and Bronze at international, national and regional levels.
“Sepaktakraw in Nagaland has come a long way. Our state has produced 23 international players who have participated in 24 international events, winning a total of 58 medals at international, national, and regional levels. This is a challenge and an opportunity to further develop sports across all schools in Nagaland,” he said, commending the Department of Youth Resources and Sports and all stakeholders for organizing the event.
“This is a challenge. We will design how sporting will be done, how games will be conducted across all schools, across Nagaland and once we design, we will be able to foreground their talents, make them represent the state, make them rich for the best,” he assured commending the Department of Youth Resources and Sports and all stakeholders for organizing the event.

Yhome also lauded Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio for placing trust in youth and sports initiatives, noting the government’s efforts to create opportunities for young athletes.
Member ANPSA Sepaktakraw Committee & Ex-Officio Advisor ANPSA Central, Bithungo Kikon gave a short speech, while Commissioner and Secretary, Youth Resources and Sports Anthony Ngullie, NCS pronounced the welcome address. NCS Director, Youth Resources & Sports Kethosituo Sekhose chaired the program and Ruokuose-ü Sanchu presented special song. Pastor, UBC, Kohima Visato Yhoshü pronounced the thanksgiving prayer.
