The Rengma Hoho on Monday stated that it will refrain from participating in the Urban Local Body (ULB) election within Tseminyu district unless the government repeals the Section 120 and 123 “Tax on Lands and Buildings” from the Nagaland Municipal Act 2001.
The apex organisation of the Rengma tribe said that the body resolved to stand by its earlier resolution adopted in 2016 against the sections.

The body has however stated that it supports the 74th Amendment Act 1992 (iv) “Reservation of seats” that stipulates 33% reservation for women in the ULBs.
The Rengma Hoho also expects the Government of Nagaland will not discount the special provision, Article 371 (a) of the Constitution of India, it added.
