Nagaland ULB elections on 26th June; 142 wards reserved for women

Kohima: Date for filing for nomination from 7th to 11th June 2024

The elections to the urban local bodies (ULBs) in Nagaland will be conducted on 26th June 2024, the State Government has informed the State Election Commissioner. The last time elections were held to elect members to the Municipal Councils in the State was in 2004.

The Additional Secretary to the Government had stated that the Cabinet has given its Administrative Approval on 26th April for the conduct of the ULB polls and also confirmed that elections will be held with 33 per cent Reservation for women.

There are a total of 418 wards spread across 39 Municipality/Town Councils in Nagaland, out of which 142 wards are reserved for women. Only Kohima, Dimapur and Mokokchung have Municipal Councils, the rest are Town Councils.

The date for filing for nomination is from 7th to 11th June 2024 while the list of contesting candidates and list of polling stations will be posted on 20th June 2024.

The results of the elections will be declared on 28th June 2024.
