An interactive session between the faculty members of the School of Engineering & Technology (SET), Nagaland University, Kohima Campus, and Zikrul Hasan Fahad, Assistant High Commissioner of Bangladesh, Guwahati, was held on December 10 at the Seminar Hall, SET–NU, Kohima Campus.
The event began with a welcome address by Prof N Venuh, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Nagaland University, Kohima Campus. Prof Venuh welcomed the visiting dignitary and reiterated Nagaland University’s commitment to advancing international academic partnerships. He emphasized the importance of cross-border collaboration in science, engineering, and technology to address shared developmental and environmental challenges in the region.
Prof Sujata Dash, Dean, School of Engineering & Technology delivered a comprehensive presentation on the School’s departments, ongoing research projects, and academic initiatives. Prof Dash also highlighted potential areas for future collaboration between Nagaland University and universities in Bangladesh. These include Joint Research Projects involving collaborative studies in areas such as sustainable engineering, renewable energy, and environmental management to address regional and global challenges; Student and Faculty Exchange Programs envisaging short-term academic exchanges aimed at enhancing mutual learning, exposure to diverse educational environments, and interdisciplinary skill-building; Internship Opportunities, facilitating internship placements for students in both countries to gain cross-cultural industry and research experience; Collaborative Master’s Program in Disaster Management, an interdisciplinary program focusing on climate resilience, disaster preparedness, and sustainable development—issues of shared importance to both Nagaland and Bangladesh; and Workshops and Technical Seminars, jointly organised to promote innovation, research communication, and cultural exchange between institutions.

During the interaction, Zikrul Hasan Fahad expressed appreciation for Nagaland University’s proactive approach and extended his support for establishing academic linkages with leading Bangladeshi universities. Potential areas of cooperation discussed included student exchange programs, internships, joint research initiatives, and the development of a collaborative Master’s program in Disaster Management.
Prof Nigamananda Das, from the Department of English, shared that international students from Bangladesh are already pursuing higher studies and research at Nagaland University, underscoring the institution’s growing global engagement and welcoming academic environment.
The session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Prof Prabhakar Sharma, Head, Department of Agricultural Engineering & Technology, who expressed gratitude to the visiting dignitary and faculty members for their valuable contributions and constructive dialogue.
