Nagaland University commemorates International Yoga Day 2024

Zunheboto: NU hosts National Webinar on “Women Empowerment through Yoga Practices” promoting the practice of yoga as a means of improving mental and physical well being

To commemorate International Yoga Day, the Sports Section of Nagaland University organised a ‘One-day national webinar on International Yoga Day 2024’, on 20th June, 2024 under the theme, “Women Empowerment through Yoga Practices”, informed PRO, Nagaland University.

The event commenced with introductory remarks from Dr. Harish Kumar Tiwari, Deputy Director of Sports and Organising Secretary of the webinar. Prof. Mithilesh Kumar Sinha, who chaired the seminar, shared his personal experiences with yoga practices, emphasising its transformative ability to empower women, physically and mentally.

The webinar featured two special guests from Manipur Sports University:

  1. 1. Shyam Sunder Rath, Dean of Student Welfare, Manipur Sports University.
  2. Dr. Keren Harish Tiwari, Assistant Professor, Department of Sports Physiology and Nutrition, Manipur Sports University.

Both speakers delivered insightful PowerPoint presentations with engaging speeches on the webinar’s theme which provided valuable tips to maintain a healthy lifestyle through yoga practices. Additionally highlighting yoga’s role in promoting physical health, mental clarity, and overall empowerment for women.

The event concluded with vote of thanks from Ashish Kumar, Hindi Officer, Nagaland University who expressed gratitude to all participants, including faculty members, officers, staff members, scholars, and students, for their positive and active involvement in the webinar.

Nagaland University’s initiative to organise such events underscores the importance of yoga in fostering women’s empowerment and contributes to the broader celebration of International Yoga Day.
