On the occasion of the birth anniversary of the father of the Nation, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, Nagaland University honoured the safai mitras for their year-round cleanliness service. The Swachh Bharat Diwas programme was held on October 2 at the Conference Hall of the Administrative Complex. The event was graced by Prof MK Sinha, Senior Professor & VC In-charge as the Chief Guest.

Peter Ki, PRO of Nagaland University presided over the programme, while Dr Likhase Sangtam, Chairperson of the Swachhata Hi Seva Committee delivered the welcome address.

Dr Sangtam dwelt on the various activities carried out by the Committee during the period September 17 to October 1.

A short video screening provided visual snapshots of the series of activities such as Pledge taking & inauguration of CTU (cleanliness target unit), plastic collection, mass cleanliness by departments and sections, rally and Ek Din, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath Shramdaan, health screening of safai mitras, etc.

A beautiful rendition of a Hindi song by Mannon Konyak from the Department of Economics added melody to the celebration. Personal protection equipment kits were presented to the safai mitras by the Chief Guest as a token of appreciation. Vote of thanks proposed by DrLobeno Mozhui, a member of the Swacchat Committee.

It may be mentioned that Deuri (Mr. Fresher 2025), Methasunu Luho (Miss Fresher 2025) and Hüralü (Miss Fresher 2024) were involved as student ambassadors for Swachhata Hi Seva.
