Nearly two decades after the launch of its first Master of Business Administration cohort, the Department of Management at Nagaland University brought together generations of graduates for its 2nd Alumni Meet, convened by the Department of Management Alumni Association (DoMAA) at Noune Resort in Chümoukedima. The gathering served as both reunion and reckoning; a moment to measure the institutional journey since the Department admitted its inaugural MBA batch in 2008. Alumni now occupy positions across entrepreneurship, banking, multinational corporations, academia, administration and public service, reflecting the expanding professional reach of the University’s management programme.
In his speech Dr Ditalak Mpanme, Assistant Professor, Department of Management, Nagaland University, recalled that the department began modestly on a temporary campus with only two faculty members and limited infrastructure. Over the years, it has grown steadily and has now produced 16 graduating batches, with alumni serving successfully across various fields of society. He further noted that the department presently offers PGDTTM, PhD-ESBM, EMBA, and PhD programmes in addition to the MBA.
The gathering was graced by Prof N Venuh, Pro-Vice Chancellor of Nagaland University, Kohima Campus, who commended the Alumni Association for convening its second reunion and praised the coming together of graduates across generations. Reflecting on the Department’s evolution since its establishment in 2007, he recalled its modest beginnings and steady rise, noting that sixteen batches have since entered diverse professions. He announced that a permanent building with upgraded infrastructure is expected within two years and underscored perseverance as the foundation of enduring success.
As Guest of Honor, L Dorendro Singh, Assistant Registrar at NIT Manipur, spoke of the Department’s formative years, shaped by limited resources but strong resolve. He highlighted its academic expansion including doctoral and postgraduate diploma programmes and urged alumni to anchor their professional lives in honesty, responsibility, and helpfulness.

The formal proceedings began with a welcome address by Kekhüsezo Zao, President of the Association, followed by the General Secretary’s report presented by Asani Eshena. An obituary segment, led by Neisal Theyo, was solemnly observed in remembrance of departed members of the alumni fraternity. Earlier the program was chaired by Dr Sohile Tep, with Kekhrieneinuo Khro serving as Rapporteur and Atoholi Chishi delivering the invocation, the session also featured the formal handing and taking-over ceremony of new office bearers for the tenure 2026–2033, conducted by Ekonthung K Yanthan. The transition symbolized continuity of leadership and a renewed commitment to the Association’s long-term vision. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Novito Kweho, followed by a benediction by Kazia Zhimo.
Beyond ceremony, the Second Alumni Meet underscored the institutional consolidation of management education at Nagaland University; a programme that has, over sixteen batches, cultivated a professional community increasingly visible across regional and national sectors. In bringing its graduates back into one room, the Department reaffirmed not only shared memory, but a shared mandate: to strengthen networks, deepen mentorship and advance academic and professional excellence in the years ahead.
