With a thrilling win against host team Royal Global University on November 9, Nagaland University has qualified for the All India Inter-University Tournament. The match ended 3–3 at full time, and Nagaland University clinched victory in the penalty shootout (4–1), informed a press release by the University.

Nagaland University participated in the AIU North East Zone University Championship from January 5 to 11, 2026, hosted by Royal Global University in Guwahati, Assam.

Last year’s runners-up, securing second position in the tournament, Nagaland University squad consisting of 22-players squad was led by Coach Wati Longchar and Manager Mesanguto Meru, Deputy Director of Sports, Nagaland University.
