Nagaland University to participate in Judo Championship

Nagaland University Judo Team is set to represent the institution at the prestigious Northeast Zone Inter-University Judo Championship (Men and Women) 2025-26, hosted by Lovely Professional University (LPU) in Punjab from January 15 to 18, 2026.

According to a press release issued by the University, a strong five-member squad—comprising three men and two women players—will compete under the leadership of team coach Somnath Chakraborty, a National Referee and Coach at Nagaland University. Dr. Harish Kumar Tiwari, Deputy Director of Sports, Nagaland University will serve as team manager. The team will depart from headquarters in Lumami on January 11.

Intensifying preparations, the athletes are currently undergoing a rigorous six-day coaching camp at Lumami HQ, supervised by Coach Chakraborty, to ensure peak performance. Nagaland University extended best wishes to the team for a successful outing and expressed its support in their pursuit of excellence in judo.
