Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister Yanthungo Patton on Monday disclosed that a meeting will be convened with the Northeast States bordering Myanmar to discuss on the Central Government’s decision to fence the Indo Myanmar border.
“Not only Assam and Nagaland but including our Northeast states bordering Myanmar we are going to discuss and approach the central leaders,” said Patton.

While, the dates for the meeting have not been scheduled yet, Patton informed that Nagaland Cabinet will have a discussion on this matter along with the other Northeast leaders.
India shares a 1,643 km long border with Myanmar of which 520 is in Arunachal Pradesh, 510 km in Mizoram, 398 km in Manipur and 215 in Nagaland.

Meanwhile, Nagaland Director General of Police (DGP) Rupin Sharma, IPS said the Nagaland government will try and convey its views and opinions on how to manage properly the Free Movement Regime (FMR) in the border areas.
Sharma, asserted that Nagaland Police besides giving inputs, will also try to see how the Indo Myanmar border can be regulated better to help in the general aspect of national security while taking the emotions and sentiments of the people along the border into consideration.
