According to Team Manager Kuzhovesa Soho, eight women athletes along with two officials represented Nagaland at the championship, which was fully sponsored by Chief Minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio.
Nagaland secured the bronze medal after defeating Uttar Pradesh in two straight pulls. This was the first time the State women’s team, after just two weeks of preparation, participated in the national championship and impressed with their strength and skill to earn a podium finish.
The team was led by Kuzhovesa Soho (Team Manager) and Vemele Thingo (Coach). The eight-member squad comprised Vikehenuo Zumvu (Captain), Vekhonielu Curhah, Haizuyile, Thejaneinuo Thevo, Sezolu Luruo, Medongunuo Thevo, Neivi Metha, and Keneithonuo Sanchu.
As part of celebrating their victory, the team visited the Wet & Joy Water Park at Shirdi on August 25 and held a thanksgiving fellowship in prayer.
The Team Manager acknowledged the tireless efforts of the athletes and coach, and expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio for sponsoring the championship, as well as to NTWA President Dr. Er. Vekho Swuro for logistical support.
Special appreciation was also extended to Col. Tarun Rana, Commandant of 13 Assam Rifles, and his officers for providing training grounds and facilities since June, which benefited both the women’s national team and the men’s international team of NTWA. The association conveyed prayers for blessings upon them in return.
