In a pioneering initiative aimed at opening global employment avenues for the youth of Nagaland, NITI Dimapur Centre organized a free awareness workshop on “Preparing for Working in Japan” at Marwari Patti Center on July 18. The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 100 students, academicians, and administrators, all eager to explore career prospects in Japan—a country whose cultural values, food habits, lifestyle, and even physical characteristics resonate closely with the Naga community.
The event was conducted in collaboration with and supported by AOTS (The Association for Overseas Technical Cooperation and Sustainable Partnerships), a renowned Japanese organization promoting global skills development and cultural exchange. AOTS is implementing the initiative on behalf of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Government of Japan, under the JEC (Japanese Endowed Courses) lecture series.
Prof Tomio Isogai, an esteemed Japanese expert and mentor known for his longstanding commitment to Indo-Japan youth collaboration led the workshop. He addressed the audience on Japan’s rising demand for young, skilled professionals and highlighted how Nagaland’s youth, with their agility, hospitality, and strong willingness to learn, are uniquely suited to thrive in Japan’s work environment.
Prof Isogai was joined by Mohita Modgill, AOTS JEC Coordinator and Pursenla Jamir, Manager at AOTS India Office, who provided practical guidance on building successful careers in Japan. They emphasized the importance of Japanese language learning, adapting to Japanese work culture, and utilizing government-supported skill programs.
In his welcome address, Rishav Sethi, CEO of NITI Nagaland and a youth icon of the State, underscored the value of global exposure and reiterated NITI’s mission to empower students through skill-based education that transcends geographical boundaries.
