The Ex-Parliamentarians’ Association of Nagaland (Ex-PAN) on Friday urged the Government of India to take a final call on the ongoing Naga political negotiations.
“…enter into agreement for solution or leave it” as “the people have grown tired of bearing the consequences of two and half decade’s negotiations,” it said.
In a representation addressed to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the Association echoed the frustration of Nagaland Peoples Action Committee (NPAC), who too had submitted its representation to Shah.
“The indecision is a major impediment to progress and peace in Nagaland,” the Ex-PAN stated.
The ex-parliamentarians questioned the delay for solution when all issues under negotiations had been “ironed out” by October 2019 and the negotiators publicly announced the completion of the talks.
“…the 25 years of political negotiations have had immense toll on the citizens and their wellbeing in Nagaland,” it added.
Ex-PAN recalled in disappointment the 2018 Nagaland Assembly elections where the BJP made “election is for solution” their official statement “to pacify the impatient public” who were restless for political solution.
“Since then, five years have gone,” the Association stated, “yet the decision of the Gol on the issue remains elusive”.
Amit Shah, on Friday, said that the Modi government has a vision of three 3 Ps for Nagaland – Peace, progress and prosperity and that all the 3 Ps have been successfully implemented in Nagaland.
On his arrival at Dimapur yesterday, the Home Minister was greeted by banners and activists demanding for political solution before election.
