National Girl Child Day was observed by the Department of Social Welfare, Shamator, at the YBBA Mission Compound on Saturday on the theme “Empowering Girls for a Bright Future.”
The programme aimed to raise awareness on the importance of the girl child, highlighting her rights, education, health, and overall empowerment in society. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from children, community members, and officials, creating an energetic and inclusive atmosphere.
Speakers stressed the need to protect and nurture the girl child, ensure equal opportunities, and eliminate all forms of discrimination against girls in every sphere of life.
As part of the celebration, traditional games of the Yimkhiung community were organized for the children, encouraging them to preserve and value their cultural heritage. The activities fostered joy, unity, and a strong sense of community bonding.
