The National Integration Tour organised by the Assam Rifles for students of St. Xavier’s College Jalukie was flagged in by Brig Shiva Kant Shukla, Commander of 6 Sector Assam Rifles, at Jalukie on Saturday in a vibrant event attended by the local community.
Speaking at the program, Chief Guest Brig Shukla emphasized the importance of such tours in the lives of students, highlighting the role they play in fostering unity, understanding, and a sense of national pride.
The flag in ceremony of the National Integration Tour commenced with a band display by the 25 Assam Rifles followed by a cultural performance by the students, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of our nation. During the ceremony, the officer-in-charge and the participants of the tour shared their experiences and insights gained during the tour.
The participants of the tour were also felicitated by the Chief Guest, acknowledging their dedication and commitment to the tour.
The 10-day tour commenced from Jalukie on 13 February 2024. During the tour, the students had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the natural beauty and the rich cultural heritage of Shillong in Meghalaya, Guwahati in Assam and Kolkata in west Bengal. The tour explored the iconic landmarks such as Umiam Lake, Elephant falls, Don Bosco Museum, Assam State Museum, Brahmaputra Heritage Centre, Victoria Memorial, Indian Museum, Tagore House, The Mother House, Birla Planetarium, Umananda temple, St Cathedral Church, etc.
The major highlight of the tour was a special interaction with Lt Gen Pradeep Chandran Nair, AVSM, YSM, Director General of Assam Rifles and Dr C. V. Ananda Bose, Governor, West Bengal. The students from St Xavier’s College Jalukie were privileged to meet the dignitaries who shared their invaluable insights into the importance of such tours in bridging divides and fostering a sense of belonging among all citizens of India.
