National Lok Adalat settles 461 cases in 3rd quarter

A total of 461 cases were settled during the 3rd Quarter National Lok Adalat (NLA) organized by District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs) under the aegis of the Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA). The settlement amount was Rs. 5,62,48,868.

During the daylong NLA sitting, 543 cases were taken up for disposal.  The nature of the cases were at Pre-litigation and pending stage. Out of 515 cases at pre-litigation stage, 449 cases were disposed off and out of 28 pending cases, 12 were disposed off successfully.

Most of the cases were bank loan recovery, Telephone bills, MACT cases among others.

Mon District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) conducted the 3rd Quarterly National Lok Adalat at the District Court Complex, Mon. Nokshei Kano, District & Sessions Judge, Mon-cum-Chairman, DLSA Mon, and Wokono Yhoshii Chief Judical Magistrate cum Secretary DLSA Mon, were the Presiding Officers, with Panel Lawyers serving as Conciliators. A total of 39 pre-litigation bank recovery cases were taken up, out of which 11 cases were disposed of, resulting in a total settlement amount of ₹17,55,024.

Tuensang District Legal Services Authority conducted 3rd Quarterly National Lok Adalat at SBI Longkhim, Tuensang Nagaland. The National Lok Adalat was presided by Principal District and Sessions Judge cum Chairman Tuensang, DLSA , Somet Chumden Chang, NJS, and Retainer Lawyer, TDLSA,  P Herola, and Ayangla, Panel Lawyer TDLSA as the conciliators. All together 40 bank recovery cases were taken up and 14 bank cases were disposed of with a settlement amount of Rs.3.69.900.

Kiphire District Legal Services Authority conducted its 3rd Lok Adalat at SBI Bank, Pungro Branch. The Lok Adalat was presided over by Holika Sukhalu, Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Secretary, KDLSA. The Lok Adalat was convened specifically for the settlement of bank loan cases. A total of 29 cases were taken up, out of which 25 cases were successfully disposed of, resulting in a total settlement amount of ₹42,75,700. The proceedings were conducted smoothly in a cordial and conciliatory manner with the cooperation of the bank officials, parties, and conciliators present. The Lok Adalat not only helped in resolving disputes but also created awareness among the litigants on the benefits of amicable settlement through alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.

Zunheboto DLSA conducted 3rd Quarterly National Lok Adalat at District Court Complex Zunheboto. District & Sessions Judge cum Chairman ZDLSA, Phuleto Yeptho, NJS was the presiding officer.  Easter H Yepthomi and Vilibo K Zhimo were the conciliators. All together 15 pre litigation bank recovery cases were taken up and 13 were disposed of with the total settlement amount of Rs.19,02,123.

Wokha District Legal Services Authority (WDLSA) conducted 3rd National Lok Adalat at District Court Complex Wokha. Smti.Seyielenuo Mezhu, District & Sessions Judge /Chairperson WDLSA was the presiding officer. Twelve Pre-Litigation Bank recovery cases and one Pending Trial Bank recovery were taken up and disposed off. The total settlement amount is Rs 22,24,621.

Phek DLSA conducted 3rd Quarterly National Lok Adalat at District Court Complex Phek. Duvelu Vero, District & Session Judge cum Chairperson Phek DLSA was the presiding officer. Sekhotso Rokha Retainer Lawyer PDLSA, Vethothi Vero, Chief LADC and Keneinuo Swuro, Deputy LADC were the conciliators. 59 cases of Pre-Litigation,Bank recovery cases were taken up and disposed off with a settlement amount of Rs.33,09,556  from SBI Bank, Canara Bank and Co-operative Banks from Phek, Pfutsero, Chozuba, Chizami.

Mokokchung District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) held its 3rd Lok Adalat at the District Court, presided over by Smti Julian Sithlou, Chief Judicial Magistrate and Secretary, Mokokchung DLSA. The Lok Adalat addressed 14 bank loan recovery cases, disposing off 12 cases, with one Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) case also settled.The total settlement amount is Rs. 17,12,418.

Peren DLSA conducted 3rd Quarterly National Lok Adalat at SBI Jalukie Branch, Jalukie Town, Peren, Nagaland. The National Lok Adalat was presided by Shri. Atoka Achumi, CJM cum Secretary PDLSA through Video Conference, Italang Ramlia (Retainer Lawyer),  Kewithinwang, Idosile, Indeu and Kidungyi Putlang ( Penal Lawyer) as the conciliator, all together 25 pre- litigation bank recovery case were taken up and 17 were disposed with a settlement amount of Rs.13,97,500.

The Kohima District Legal Services Authority conducts 3rd Quarterly National Lok Adalat at District Court Kohima on 13.09.25. Take up 40 Bank Recovery case and 15 BSNL case. Total case take up 55 cases and disposed 55 cases with settlement amount of Rs. 1,28,84,877.

On September 13, 2025 Dimapur District Legal Services Authority held 3rd quartley Lok Adalat at District Court Complex. Longshithung Ezung ,Principle District & Sessions. Judge/ Chairman and Atoka Achumi, Chief Judicial Magistrate cum Secretary DDLSA were the Presiding Officers with Panel Lawyers as Conciliators. More than 24 banks participated today. MACT and BSNL also participated. All together 164 cases taken up and disposed all the cases with the settlement amount of Rs.24174325.

The Longleng DLSA held 3rd National Lok Adalat at District court complex with SBI Longleng Branch. Presided by the Secretary Kumdilong Kessen, (NJS) and Retainer Lawyer Panglang Y Phom, Deputy LADC, P Monyei Phom as conciliators respectively. All together 77 per-litigation bank recovery case taken up and disposed off with the settlement amount ₹19,42,824. PlVs Yingli Keikung, Manau, Katvang and Chingmei assisted the defaulters and distributed Leaflets on Legal Services and Schemes related to social welfare .
