The National Postal Week cum Customer meet was held at the Conference Hall of Hotel Cimorb on October 12. The National Postal Week is celebrated from October 9 to 13 with the objective to foster strong and enduring relationships with customers while addressing their individual needs. The event aimed to provide support and create a lasting rapport with customers.
Som Kamei, Postmaster General NE 2 region felicitated the DNK/BNPL customers. In his short speech, Kamei informed that Nagaland have now administrative control over their own Parcel hub and express the hope that it will cater the needs of our people efficiently. “We are continuously striving for better and efficient services to give faster service. Mail and parcels are our main services but we also providing banking services even in the remote villages. India Post Payment Bank (IPPB) provides a fast and better service for the people even in the village area,” said Kamei who appealed the government to give them a mandate to open account. Kamei informed that all their 357 branch offices in Nagaland have digitised banking services and all their services are user friendly as it can all be conducted online now .
The program was followed by a presentation by Daniel Domeh where he highlighted on the Dak Ghar Niryat Kendra (postal export centres). “These are designated post offices for facilitating booking and dispatch of commercial export parcels. DNK is also a website where exporters can register themselves and book foreign export parcels. It is fully commercial in nature and not meant for personal parcels,” said Domeh.

The DNK is conceptualised to promote small entrepreneurs (MSMEs) and cater to international exporters in places like the North East and in this system the exporter will log into the DNK website (https://dnk.cept.gov.in) and get themselves registered, added Domeh. After the registration process is complete along with upload of KYC documents, the booking can begin. Further details and benefits of the DNK was meticulously highlighted to the customers.
At present, there are five Dak Ghar Niryat Kendras in Nagaland : Kohima Head Post Office,Dimapur Sub Post Office,Mokokchung Sub Post Office,Jalukie Sub Post office and Phek Sub Post Office.
Domeh also emphasized on the Book Now Pay Later(BNPL) where Bulk customers are eligible for credit facility provided an agreement is entered with the Department. (Bulk customer is defined as anyone who provides Rs. 10,000 worth of speed post business in calendar month at a Speed Post booking office).
