NBCC calls for Prayer as Nagaland Govt considers partial lifting of NLTP Act

Kohima: NBCC says partial lifting of NLTP a ‘serious matter of concern’

The Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) has called for prayer in all churches under the Council during the Sunday Devotional Service on 25th August 2024 over the possibility of partial lifting of the Nagaland Liquor Total Prohibition (NLTP) Act, 1989 in the State.

The Cabinet had on 22nd August 2024 decided to relook and revisit the Act and take the matter up during the upcoming Session of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly. Minister for Power and State Spokesperson K.G. Kenye had stated “We will try to have a partial lifting of this Act in certain areas.”

In a letter to Executive Directors/ Executive Secretaries of all Baptist Associations under NBCC, the General Secretary of the Council, Rev. Dr. Zelhou Keyho stated that the lifting of the NLTP Act is a “serious matter of concern for all the believers and it is our duty to pray.”
