The Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) has issued a directive to all heads of registered institutions under its purview to take immediate and effective measures to prevent ragging and bullying in schools.
In the directive issued on June 2, the NBSE emphasized that such practices not only harm the emotional and psychological well-being of students but also undermine the principles of a safe and inclusive learning environment.
Heads of institutions have been instructed to reinforce strict anti-ragging and anti-bullying protocols within their schools. The Board has also advised schools to conduct regular awareness programmes and counseling sessions to educate students about the consequences of such behavior.

Further, the NBSE has called for the formation of anti-ragging and anti-bullying committees in every school. These committees should include representatives from school staff, parents, and students. Schools are also directed to install complaint/suggestion boxes to allow victims or witnesses to report incidents anonymously.
The Board has asked that clear and prominent notices be displayed in key areas across school premises, warning that ragging and bullying are strictly prohibited and will invite severe disciplinary action.
In addition, the NBSE has urged school authorities to sensitize staff members to identify, address, and handle such issues with promptness and empathy.
“The safety and well-being of students must remain the highest priority,” the Board stated, calling for all institutions to treat the matter with utmost seriousness and urgency.
