NBSE urges school heads to closely coordinate with Board towards common goal

NBSE holds meeting with new heads of institutions in Kohima on 29 April 2023

A meeting with New Heads of Institutions, organized by Nagaland Board of School Education, was held on 28th April 2023 at Platinum Hall, NBCC, Bayavü Hill, Kohima, DIPR informed.

Asano Sekhose, Chairman, NBSE in her keynote address, reiterated that the Heads of Institutions and the Board should work in close coordination towards a common goal of imparting quality education. She expressed delight to see the newly appointed heads in the meeting. She said along with the position comes great responsibilities and the need to equip themselves to meet the challenges of the ever-changing trends of providing meaningful education. As heads, it is their responsibility to drive the school in the right direction and motivate the teachers and students to do better. She also highlighted the recent activities undertaken by the Board to align with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

Dr. Visakhonu Hibo, Principal, Japfü Christian College, Kigwema was the Resource Person at the meeting. She shared the topic – Expectations from the Heads of Institutions. As Heads, it is imperative to improve oneself every day, start practicing and learn new things. She encouraged the Heads that the NEP 2020 will become meaningful only when the head activates the changes. She said, as Heads, one must be a servant-leader, be a mentor for the students, teachers, and staff of the school, be a connecting link with the parents and community, and be sensitive and soft but bold to bring a positive change in the school. The aim of education is for all-round development, and as Heads, one should work towards the wholesome growth of the students.

Chairperson of the programme, Rangumbuing Nsarangbe, Secretary, NBSE, in his speech, said this kind of meeting is a yearly affair of the Board and it was a very important opportunity where new heads can learn the activities of the Board and what is expected of them.

Sister Maria Goretti from St. Joseph Hr. Sec. School, Chumoukedima offered the invocation prayer.

The second session of the day started with the presentation of the activities on Academic and Examination Matters by Iluheing Nsarangbe, Joint Secretary (Academic), NBSE. IT Matters and interventions introduced by the Board were presented by Kekhrielhoutuo Nakhro, Chief Coordinator, IT, NBSE.

There was a time for Questions & Interaction, where many doubts and practical difficulties were discussed.

In conclusion, the Secretary of NBSE gave the concluding remark and proposed the vote of thanks. Books on vocational subjects were distributed to schools for their library reference.
