A Stakeholders’ Meeting-cum-Awareness Programme, focused on “Industrial Air Pollution Control” under the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP) 2024–25 was held on November 26. The event was organized by the District Administration in collaboration with the District Industries Centre (DIC), Kohima, at the Conference Hall of Deputy Commissioner, Kohima. The program was led by Ahunle Tep, General Manager, DIC and keynote address by Dr. Riku Khutso, EAC Sadar.
PowerPoint presentation of the air pollution scenario of Kohima city was delivered by Yanathung Kithan, Scientist ‘B’, Nagaland Pollution Control Board (NPCB). He recommended effective measures including use of water sprinklers, green belts, windbreakers, and adherence to mandatory regulatory consents to reduce pollution from stone crusher units.

Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, B Henok Buchem pointed out the vital role of stone crusher units in employment generation and economic growth. However, he emphasised the stakeholders’ responsibility to adopt sustainable and eco-friendly practices to ensure better air quality and human health.
The stakeholders acknowledged the importance of undertaking air pollution control measures and expressed their support and cooperation with government agencies.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks from Wekhrope Akami, Functional Manager DIC, Kohima.
