In this context, Himanta Biswa Sarma also heaped praise on the leadership of incumbent Chief Minister Rio.

Besides, the Assam CM also highlighted about the BJP and the Centre’s commitment to resolve the vexed Indo Naga political issue. The NEDA convenor added that concentrated efforts have been made to reach a logical end as far as the Naga issue is concerned.

“We have spent in the last 5 years considerable time and energy for bringing a solution to the Naga political problem and we have travelled, we have covered lot of ground and I am sure that next 5 years will be very very important towards achieving that objective. We want to have a solution, which will respect the uniqueness of Nagas, uniqueness of the history of Naga people and also recognize a strong friendship between the Naga people and other people living in the rest of India,” stated Sarma.

Himanta Biswa Sarma is hopeful that under the leadership of Chief Minister Rio in the next five years more efforts will be put into for a solution to the political issue. He said, “I believe that these (next) 5 years under the leadership of Neiphiu Rio we will work further, we will work for achieving that objective of bringing a permanent solution to the Naga political problem.”

Sarma also affirmed about the strong ties between the BJP and the NDPP as he mentioned about the joint campaign of both the parties.

Meanwhile, speaking about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit tomorrow, Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “Tomorrow we are going to see the most important visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. PM will come down to Nagaland to campaign for the BJP-NDPP alliance to reiterate our strong commitment for development of Nagaland and to endorse the leadership of Neiphiu Rio and to appeal to all of you to vote for NDPP BJP once again.”

“So we have seen 3 important visits of BJP National leadership in the last 2 weeks that goes to show how much my party cares for the friendship with NDPP and also how much we care for the future of Nagaland,” Sarma added.

In terms of fielding women candidates, by both the BJP and the NDPP, Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “Nagaland had started it’s journey in 1960 at that point of time. So much years has gone by now but till today we do not have a female legislator in the Nagaland Legislative assembly.”

Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio this time has taken a historical decision that the time has come where we will not talk about gender equality, not only about women empowerment but in fact we are going to give responsibility to our women legislators to lead the destiny of the state in the days to come. History is going to be created on the day of the result. We will all be part of the history and I think that history will make Nagaland a much stronger State.
