Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the pre-poll alliance partners, on Monday evening staked claim to form the next government.
Chingwang Konyak, NDPP President; Abu Metha, NDPP Secretary General; Ranjeet Kumar Dass, Central Observer BJP and Nalin Kohli, BJP National Spokesperson and Nagaland in-charge met the governor of Nagaland, La Ganesan at Raj Bhavan in Kohima.
Sources informed that possible ministers to be sworn in from the BJP included Paiwang Konyak, Y Patton, Temjen Imna Along and Jacob Zhimomi including Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio of the NDPP.

The NDPP is yet to divulge its list of ministers. The governor will be issuing the final list on Tuesday morning (March 7) before the swearing-in.
It may be mentioned that in the recently concluded Nagaland Assembly Election 2023, the ruling alliance of the NDPP and BJP won 37 seats in total with the NDPP securing 25 seats out of 40, while the BJP secured 12 seats out of 20 as per the pre-poll seat sharing agreement of 40:20.

Meanwhile, the swearing-in ceremony will be held at Capital Cultural Hall in Kohima on 7 March at 1:30 pm and will be attended by Prime Minister Modi, BJP National President JP Nadda among a host of dignitaries.
