NDPP chief express grief on demise of K. Zungkum Yim

Chingwang Konyak, President of Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP), has expressed grief on the demise of former member of Nagaland Legislative Assembly K. Zungkum Yim at Dimapur on 6th December 2024.

In a condolence message, Konyak mentioned that late K. Zungkum was a friend and a colleague with whom his association goes back to 1969 when they were both Regional Council Members and later as Members of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly from Tuensang when Yim was elected in 1972. “My association with him continued till his sad passing and he will be dearly missed”, the NDPP chief stated.

Konyak described late K. Zungkum as a people’s leader who contributed in many ways towards the development of Nagaland and its people during the formative years of the State. He leaves an indelible print through his contributions towards the people of Tuensang and the Yimkhiung tribe in particular and was instrumental in the formation and establishment of the Yimkhiung Tribal Council, he added.

Chingwang Konyak also said that in the passing of late K. Zungkum, the State has lost a veteran and visionary leader and he has lost a personal friend and colleague.

On behalf of his own family and the NDPP, Konyak extended deepest and heartfelt condolences to the members of the bereaved family.

Earlier on 6th December 2024, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio had expressed sadness over the passing of the former MLA late K. Zungkum and described him as a “dedicated leader who served our state with distinction, demonstrating unwavering commitment to the welfare and progressof our people.”
