The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) held a rally at Lampong Sheanghah in Mon district for its candidate for the 43-Tapi bye-election, Wangpang Konyak. Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio was joined by star campaigners with support from State BJP President Benjamin Yepthomi.
Rio began his speech by sharing his grief over the demise of the senior-most member of 14th NLA, Late Noke Wangnao. He expressed his gratitude to the voters of 43-Tapi Ac for electing Late Wangnao to the NLA for a record nine times. He asserted that the party has opened several doors of opportunities to the young, educated, and upright leaders and reaffirmed his confidence in Wangpang Konyak to take forward the visions of late Wangnao and to lead the state towards the road of progress.

President of NDPP Chingwang Konyak expressed his gratitude to the other former candidates of the general elections for affirming their solidarity and support to the NDPP ticket bearer. He stated that development and opportunities come about only if the elected candidate belongs to the party in power.
Benjamin Yepthomi, President of BJP, Nagaland emphasized on the seat-sharing policy of the two parties (NDPP-BJP) since 2018. He stated that the alliance should stand not only in letter but also in spirit. He urged both the party workers to work collectively and elect the intending NDPP candidate of 43-Tapi AC Wangpang Konyak while strengthening the PDA and the robust leadership of Rio.
Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) from Nagaland, S Phangnon Konyak also participated in the campaign. Other star campaigners included G. Kaito Aye, Minister – PWD (Road and Bridges), C L John, Minister – Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Moatoshi Longkumer, MLA & Advisor – Labour, Employment and Skill Development and Excise, S Keoshu Yimchunger, MLA & Advisor – Youth Resources and Sports. Members from the CEB and frontal organisations also attended the event.
