Kohima: CM and other leaders of NDPP will be travelling to New Delhi for talks with the BJP high command

The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) led BJP government in Nagaland is likely to be sworn in on 7 March for a second consecutive term, NDPP leader TR Zeliang said today.

The NDPP and BJP will hold a joint meeting in Delhi in a day or two. Neiphiu Rio who is all set to begin his 5th innings as the CM, and other leaders of NDPP will be travelling to New Delhi for talks with the BJP high command and after returning from New Delhi, the swearing-in will be held on March 7.

NDPP today held a meeting with its newly elected MLAs at NDPP central office here in Kohima, convened by the Party President Chingwang Konyak. During the meeting the house unanimously elected Neiphiu Rio as the legislature party leader.

Meanwhile, with speculations doing the rounds of other political parties forging alliance with the ruling parties, it was informed that the alliance partners NDPP-BJP will ponder over it and take a collective decision.

In the recently concluded elections in the state, NDPP won 25 seats out of the 40 seats it had contested, increasing its tally of 18 from the 2018 elections, while its ally BJP bagged the same number of 2018 elections 12, which equals to 37, a comfortable number way beyond the majority mark of 31 needed to form the government in a 60-member Assembly const
