The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) has expressed shock and grief at the news of the untimely demise of the Governor of Nagaland, La Ganesan in Chennai on August 15.
In a condolence message, the NDPP said that the Governor was known for being a gentleman, down to earth and humble in nature. In his tenure as the Governor of Nagaland, which began 2023, late Ganesan never imposed his authority and position, but rather helped steer the State with his vast wisdom and maturity.
As the State mourns the Governor, the NDPP family along with the people of Nagaland in expressed deepest and heartfelt condolences to the members of the bereaved family.
Nagaland University:
Nagaland University has also expressed grief at the demise of La Ganesan, Governor of Nagaland and Chief Rector of Nagaland University.
The Nagaland University said Prof Jagadish Kumar Patnaik, Vice Chancellor of Nagaland University, has expressed profound sorrow at the passing of La Ganesan.
In his message, Prof Patnaik remembered Ganesan as a dedicated statesman whose unwavering commitment to public service and education left a lasting impact on the university and the state.
The Nagaland University fraternity extended its deepest condolences to the bereaved family and joined the nation in mourning the loss of a distinguished leader.
Abu Metha:
Advisor to the Chief Minister and Chairman IDAN, Abu Metha, has expressed deep sorrow over the demise of Governor Thiru La. Ganesan, describing his passing as an “irreparable loss to the nation” and to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In a heartfelt message, Metha recalled his close association with the late Governor during his tenure at the Raj Bhavan in Kohima. “Over the years, we developed a warm and positive relationship, marked by mutual respect and trust,” he stated.
Metha fondly remembered their interactions, which ranged from discussions on culture, art, sport, and development, to collaborative efforts on major programmes and events in Nagaland. “From early morning breakfasts to musical evenings and dedicatory services, each occasion was enriched by his presence and wisdom,” he added.

Describing Governor La. Ganesan as a “fine gentleman – dignified, charming, hospitable, and kind,” Metha praised his sincerity and genuine concern for people. “His support, encouragement, and blessings will always remain a source of inspiration to me,” he noted.
Conveying his deepest condolences to the bereaved family, Metha said, “We join in prayer for the departed soul to rest in eternal peace.”
