While congratulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) on its third consecutive term in power, the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) has appealed both to safeguard the interests of the weaker sections, minorities and all religions to ensure secularism and equality for all under the Constitution of India.
This was one of the resolutions adopted and passed during the NDPP and the NDPP Parliamentary Party joint meeting held on the 12th June 2024 at Kohima.
Further, the NDPP congratulated S Supongmeren Jamir, the new Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) and “hope that he will carry forward the voice of the Nagas in the House of the people without malice or favor.”
The NDPP also congratulated the Election Commission of India, Ste Election commission, the Chief Secretary, the Police, and all involved for the successful and peaceful conduct of the Parliamentary elections in Nagaland.
The House also stated that success or failure is a collective responsibility and said that its loss in the recently concluded Lok Sabha election “will motivate the Party and the Legislators to introspect, take corrective measures and continue to pursue our Party constitution, commitments and manifesto towards serving the people of the State.”
Additionally, while reaffirming its sincerity towards early resolution of Indo-Naga polititical issue, the NDPP welcomed the decision of the State Government to form the Political Affairs Committee at the Government level and the Political Consultative Committee at the level of the political parties.
Lastly, the House urged the people of the State to participate in the forthcoming elections to the Municipal and Town Councils.
