NDSMA directs DDMA Wokha, NEEPCO to submit report on solid wastes in Doyang Dam Reservoir

Kohima: Emergency meeting called to address thratening environmental hazard situation at Doyang

The Chief Secretary and Chairman, State Executive Committee of Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) has directed the Chairman, District Disaster Management Authority Wokha and Head of Project, North Eastern Electric Power Cooperation Limited (NEEPCO) at Doyang to submit a preliminary report on the solid waste disposal in the upstream of Doyang Dam Reservoir.

Home Commissioner, Vikeyie Kenya, IAS, informed in a press release that this step has been taken in view of the reported environmental hazard caused by the solid waste disposal at the reservoir. The preliminary report is expected by 10:00 am on 7th June 2024.

Further, Kenya informed that the Chief Secretary and Chairman, SEC, has also convened an emergency meeting for coordinated response to undertake specific prevention and mitigation measures by the threatening environmental hazard situation caused by the improper disposal of solid garbage at the upstream of the Doyang Dam Reservoir.
